Samsung manufactures dozens of refrigerator configurations, four dishwasher series, two washer loading types, both electric and gas dryers, and multiple range formats — and components are not cross-compatible across series. Samsung Refrigerators

Samsung produces more refrigerator configurations than any other product category — French-door, side-by-side, top-mount, and bottom-freezer — but the label placement follows a single principle across all of them: inside the fresh food compartment, on the left interior wall.

French-door and side-by-side refrigerators

Open the main refrigerator door (the left door on French-door models). On the left interior wall, near the top — typically at or just below the first shelf bracket — you will find a white or silver adhesive label. On French-door models (RF28, RF29, RF31, RF32 series), the label is most commonly on the upper-left interior wall of the fresh food compartment. On side-by-side models (RS27, RS28), open the refrigerator side and look at the same wall position.

If the interior wall label isn't immediately visible, check the door jamb — the recessed edge of the refrigerator cabinet that you see when the door is swung fully open. The hinge-side jamb is a common secondary location, particularly on 4-door French-door models where the interior wall label may be obscured by a water dispenser housing. As a third option, Samsung often places an exterior label at the lower-left corner of the cabinet, near the toe kick — this exterior label is the fastest option for repair technicians who don't want to move food.

Top-mount and bottom-freezer refrigerators

For top-mount models (RT18, RT21), open the refrigerator door and look at the left interior wall, about one-third of the way down. On bottom-freezer models (RB10, RB34), the label is in the same left-wall position in the refrigerator compartment. If you can't find it in the main compartment, open the freezer drawer (bottom-freezer) and check the interior ceiling of the freezer cavity — a minority of older models place a secondary label here.

Pro tip: the exterior lower-left label

Since approximately 2015, most Samsung refrigerators carry a secondary label on the exterior lower-left face of the cabinet, just above the toe kick. This label is more accessible during service calls when the refrigerator is loaded and pulling out crisper drawers is impractical. It typically includes both the model number and a shortened version of the serial number. On Bespoke refrigerators with custom door panels, this exterior position is often the only accessible label without removing a panel.

Samsung Dishwashers

Samsung dishwasher model number location is consistent across the full product line: the label is always on the inner door. The specific position within the door varies slightly by model, which causes most of the confusion.

Open the dishwasher door fully. Look at the narrow rim running along the top edge of the inner door panel — the strip you see when looking at the top of the door from above, once it's open. On most DW80 and DW76 series models, the label is here. If it's not on the top rim, check the left or right side of the inner door rim — the same narrow strip but running vertically along the door's side edge.

On integrated/panel-ready dishwasher models (where a customer-supplied cabinet door panel covers the front), the label is most reliably found on the tub side wall near the front opening — the inner wall of the tub itself, on the left or right side, near where the door seal makes contact. Use a flashlight; hard water deposits can make labels appear blank at a glance when the ink is still legible underneath.

Samsung Washers

Samsung washers split into two loading types with different label locations — a distinction that trips up technicians who mainly work on one type.

Front-load washers (WF and WW series)

Open the washer door. Samsung places the label on the circular door frame — the ring of painted metal or plastic that the door seal presses against when closed. Look at the 3 o'clock position (right side of the ring) or 9 o'clock position (left side) as you face the machine. On WF45R, WF45T, WF50R, and most current WF/WW front-load models, the label is on the right side (3 o'clock), typically at face height when you're crouched in front of the machine.

On older WF models (pre-2017) or units where the door frame label has been damaged by moisture, the label may instead appear on the inner rim of the door glass frame itself — the circular strip on the door that you see when the door is swung open, around the outer edge of the glass portal. If you see sticker residue on the door frame but can't read the number, look for the same data on the door itself before checking the back of the unit.

Top-load washers (WA series)

Lift the lid. On the underside of the lid — the inner surface that faces downward when the lid is raised — you will find the model/serial label on virtually all WA-series Samsung top-loaders. On some older models (WA456DRHDWR and similar older WA5000 variants), the label migrated to the upper rear cabinet wall: the flat surface you see when you look toward the back of the machine with the lid open. If neither location yields a readable label, check the rear exterior of the unit — some very early Samsung top-loaders placed the label on the rear panel.

Samsung Dryers

Samsung dryers are among the most straightforward appliances for label location: open the dryer door and look at the bottom of the drum rim — the circular lip that the drum sits against. The model/serial label is on this rim, facing you when the door is open. On most DV-series models (DV45T, DV50T, DV55CG, and similar), the label is on the lower portion of the rim, at roughly the 6 o'clock position relative to the drum opening.

If the drum rim label is unreadable (heat degrades adhesive labels faster on dryers than any other appliance category), look at the right-hand door frame panel — the narrow strip of metal or plastic running along the right side of the drum opening, visible when you stand facing the open door. This is the most common backup location on Samsung electric and gas dryers alike.

On Samsung FlexDry models (DV28BB), which feature a flex-drum within the main drum, the label is on the right door frame panel as above, since the drum rim has less clearance. For Samsung Heat Pump dryers (DV25BB series), the label is on the right door frame or just inside the door on the door's inner rim.

Samsung Ranges and Wall Ovens

Ranges present more variation than other Samsung appliance categories because label placement depends on range type and installation format.

Freestanding electric and gas ranges (NE, NX58, NX60 series)

Open the oven door fully. Look at the left or right side of the oven door frame — the interior trim panel running along the side of the opening, visible when the door is swung open. On most NE58 and NE63 freestanding electric models, the label is on the left side of the door frame, at roughly eye level when kneeling in front of an open oven. On gas models (NX58H9500, NX58R9421), check the same location.

If the door frame is bare, pull out the storage or warming drawer at the bottom of the range fully. The model/serial label is on the left side of the drawer cavity wall — the inner face you see when the drawer is fully extended. This is the second most common location on Samsung freestanding ranges, particularly on models with a warming drawer rather than a storage drawer.

A third location exists on slide-in and front-control ranges: underneath the cooktop, on the left side panel. Access this by opening the oven door fully — from inside the oven cavity, lean in and look up and to the left. This sub-cooktop label is particularly common on NX58 and NX63 slide-in models built after 2020.

Wall ovens (NV51, NV75 series)

For built-in Samsung wall ovens, open the oven door and check the left interior door frame — the same position as freestanding ranges. On double-wall oven models, the label is typically on the lower oven's door frame, since the upper unit's frame may be partially obscured by the surrounding cabinet installation. If the door frame shows no label, check the broiler tray cavity: pull the tray out and look at the cavity face just inside the broiler compartment opening.

Samsung Microwaves

Samsung microwave label location depends on the installation type.

Over-the-range microwaves (ME, MS, MG series)

Open the microwave door. On most over-the-range models, the label is inside the door frame cavity — the inner rim of the door itself, on the side opposite the hinge (the right side on most models). On ME21M, ME19R, MS19M, and similar over-the-range units, the label faces you when the door is open and you look at the door's inner edge near the latch side. An alternative location is inside the cavity wall — the interior left or right wall of the microwave compartment, visible with the door open.

Countertop microwaves (MS, MW, MC series)

For countertop models, the label is on the rear panel of the unit — the back surface facing the wall. To read it without moving the microwave, you may need a mirror or phone camera. On smaller countertop models (MS11T, MS14K), a secondary label sometimes appears on the underside of the unit.

Reading the Samsung Model Number

Once you have the model number, the prefix and suffix structure encode meaningful information about the appliance type, capacity, and feature tier.

The trailing letter before the region suffix on most Samsung appliance models indicates finish: W = White, S or SS = Stainless Steel, K = Black Stainless, B = Bespoke (custom panel), Z = Stainless with fingerprint resistance. For parts ordering purposes, different finish variants of the same model number (e.g., NE63T8711SS vs NE63T8711WW) typically share identical internal components — only the exterior door/panel parts differ by finish.

The serial number is on the same label. Samsung's serial format is distinct from US-brand serial numbers: on the standard 15-character serial (the most common format on refrigerators, ranges, and recent washers/dryers), the 8th character is the year code and the 9th character is the month code. Year letters cycle on a 20-year repeat. Month codes use 1–9 for January–September and letters A, B, C for October, November, December.
